Book #6
Submitted by jennie on Sat, 01/24/2009 - 14:09Book #6 +: The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski finished on January 24, 2009
I think this books should be counted as two books. It was 600 pages long! Most of the books I read are around 300 pages or so.
This was one of the best books I've read in a very long time. It held my attention through out the whole book. I was only bored in a few places but I don't hold that against the author. I truly wanted to know what happened next and what the reason was behind Edgar's life and the dogs' lives. Now, after saying that, I will say I was very disappointed in the e
Book #5
Submitted by jennie on Sat, 01/17/2009 - 17:51Book #5: Straight Talking by Jane Green finished on January 17, 2009
This was a quick, light read. It's like most of Jane's other books and I enjoyed it. Do you have to have passion to fall in love? Good story. Chick lit which I enjoy between other more serious books. :)
Book #4
Submitted by jennie on Wed, 01/14/2009 - 21:38Book #4: Atonement by Ian McEwan read on January 14, 2009:
This book started out really slow. I felt that there was too much in the way of descriptions in it. While it's nice to have the author describe the way a person is dressed and the way the scene looks, sometimes I think you can go overboard. When you take pages to do that, it's too much, in my opinion.
I think Part II was probably the best part of the book. To be truthful I didn't like the writing of this book. I liked the story and thought it was a good idea but the way it was written was not my favorite. It wa
Book #3
Submitted by jennie on Thu, 01/08/2009 - 12:46Why in the heck do spammers think they gain anything by sending meaningless messages to my blog comments. They don't get approved and they just get deleted. O'well.
Book #3: Brida: A Novel by Paulo Coelho finished on January 8, 2008.
This was a quick ready and short book. I enjoyed it though. I believe he was trying to teach a lesson that all the answers aren't out there in your life and you should just live your life and try to be happy. I would recommend the book. It was about witches but it was not out there at all. Kind of cool.
Okay, on to my next book, Atonemen
2 Books down…
Submitted by jennie on Mon, 01/05/2009 - 22:00So, I've pretty much been writing this blog/note entry for the past 3 hours or so in my head. That's what I do when I'm shopping and by myself. :) So, anyways, I figured since my resolution was to read so many books, that I should keep track of it on my blog. Of course, I am keeping track of it other places, too -- Collectorz and FB, but I figured why not another place.
So, it's January 5 and I have read 2 books so far. The first book I finished on January 1 and started before the new year but that one counts because I finished it in 2009. I probably would have finished the second book
My New Year’s Resolution…
Submitted by jennie on Sat, 01/03/2009 - 14:18I decided last night my New Year's resolution is to read all of the books that I started but never finished. :) Here's the thing, I'm very bad about starting a book and not finishing it if it is REALLY boring. I figured out while cataloging all my books that I have quite a few books that I never finished. So, my goal for 2009 is to finish those books. I figured this is a goal that I can do!
As part of that goal, I want to read some of the classics that for what ever reason I never did read. I have Emma that I need to read. Can you believe that I have never read 'To Kill a Mocking Bird'
Happy New Year!
Submitted by jennie on Thu, 01/01/2009 - 16:21Well, I'm glad it's finally 2009! I've been looking back at what has happened in 2008 and let's just say I'm glad the year is over. I wasn't looking forward to 2008 because I knew I had almost a whole year of Herceptin treatments in front of me and radiation. While the Herceptin wasn't so bad, I glad everything is done and over with! No more treatments! No more radiation! No more surgeries!
I'm starting to feel more like myself again! I want to start walking again and to try to start eating healthy and try to lose this stupid weight that I gained this year from all of the stress of the
The Port is gone….
Submitted by jennie on Fri, 11/07/2008 - 23:15Today was my outpatient surgery to have my port taken out. This means I don't need it anymore. Yea! I'm alittle sore but I've been taken my painkillers. I can't really lift my right arm right now. We got to the hospital around 6:45 this morning. I was supposed to go to surgery around 8:30. It wasn't too far off -- the nurse said I was wheeled in around 9am. This was my 7th surgery in a little over 2 years. Two surgeries on my ankle, two surgeries on my breast, two surgeries for the port and one surgery for my hysterectomy. I will say that I still hate coming out of the 'sleep' mode f
Harding Alumni Magazine Picture…
Submitted by jennie on Sun, 10/26/2008 - 17:23So, I was catching up with my huge stack of magazines (yes, I'm in the process of canceling a lot of them) and I was looking at the Fall edition of the Harding Alumni Magazine. So, I was looking at the picture on the cover and think, boy that looks familiar, where do I know those stairs from? Well, they look familiar because I was just on them a few weeks ago -- they are the stairs from the Vatican museum. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of the stairs. By the time we got done in the museum and were walking down the stairs, I was so
Last Herceptin!!!
Submitted by jennie on Fri, 09/19/2008 - 20:56This past Thursday, I had my last Herceptin injection! Yea!! That means I've had a year's worth of injections. Wow! Time really flies. So, I have made an appointment with my surgeon to have my port removed. I couldn't get an initial office visit until Oct.
